Quite possibly our best kept secret in the Alienation parts ...

Quite possibly our best kept secret in the Alienation parts vault is our assortment of grips. We cater to almost every style of grip that can be wanted, but there is one in particular that really stands out from the rest, and that is our Team Grip. Inspired by ramp shredder Mike Fede this grip brings in a lot of elements that together make for a really good feel.

To begin, this grip is thin. It’s astounding to witness peoples preference on grips. You would figure the large handed fellows would like a larger grip but I’ve found this to not always be the case. Some of the largest people in BMX prefer a thinner grip, see Alex Landeros pictured above. Regardless our grip has passed the test from all walks of life.

As you can see from our digital design, there is a rotating pattern of flanges and bumps which are meant to both give traction as well as provide an appropriate feel to the grip. The largest complaint of similar grips is that from time to time on a new pair, your hand will fly off because all of the flanges under your hand will actually shift when you transfer body weight. This was a problem with the original “Mushroom style” of grip as well and hasn’t been a topic of discussion really ever. It was billed to somehow improve arm fatigue but I cannot contemplate how that works. Email me if you know the answer! The Team Grip offers the best of both worlds between an ultra thin grip yet the comfort and stability of what you have come to depend on from Alienation BMX.

The material is Super Soft Pruven Kraton Single Density Rubber, which from all investigation is what they use to coat the F-1 racetracks before race day. That means that this grip can help you go faster… Well it actually means nothing like that but if you get a pair and find them to be too hard out of the gate, feel free to boil them. (Bring water to boil, Place grips in for 3-5 Min. Take out with TONGS. Once Warm, Pull, Stretch, and abuse until desired length and softness. Put on bike, ride away smooth) Or they break in pretty fast if you want to do it the old fashioned way.

The final positive feature of the Team Grip is the length. It comes in at an impressive 148mm right out of the gate. Using the applied method above, you can easily get a little more length out of the grip if desired but in today’s handlebar market of “bigger is better” this grip will fit your scheme. Available in a grip of colors, do yourself a favor and improve your ride and feel what innovation feels like under the palm of your hand.
